Hexham Abbey

Hexham Abbey in Northumberland can trace its roots back to 674 although its current form largely came about in the 12th century after the original was burnt to the ground during Danish incursions. Some further additions were added a little over a century ago when a lot of the abbey was also rebuilt. It has served as the parish church of Hexham since 1537 and the town has built up around it. We visited back in the summer.
